1950s British Botanical Paintings Framed by Alfred Hecht (Set of Four)
A very special set of four original 1950s botanical watercolour floral paintings set on striped yellow backing, mounted and framed by the famous Alfred Hecht (1907-91) of London.
The artist behind the watercolour paintings themselves is unknown, however Hecht was a famous British picture framer and art dealer who undertook framing work for artists such as Graham Sutherland and Francis Bacon, as well as big-time art dealers.
'When I die,' Hecht used to say, 'let my epitaph be: "Alfred Hecht, the man who invented the coloured mount".' (Derek Granger, obituary for Alfred Hecht, The Independent - 12 January 1991).
